In which countries the power lithium-ion battery manufacturing industry will grow fastest?

02-08-2022

According to the research of Scotch Creek ventures, by 2030, the global demand for lithium-ion electric vehicle (EV) batteries is expected to grow to more than 17 times that of a decade ago, reaching 9300GWh. In order to meet this demand, the global production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles needs to be increased, which requires a fast pace.

By 2025, the output of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles will be more than double. Let's take a look at which countries have increased the most production capacity.

China

China is currently the world's largest producer of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and is expected to maintain this position by 2025.

Expected growth of lithium-ion battery capacity of production from 2021 to 2025: 386 GWH

The percentage of change of lithium ion battery capacity from 2021 to 2025: 69.18%

Estimated total production capacity of lithium ion batteries by 2025: 944 GWH

Germany

Germany was the seventh largest producer of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles in the world in 2021. By 2025, its global ranking will rise from 5th to 2nd.
